About
I've spent a couple years with my hands inside cars that most people would call impractical.
Right now that means a turbocharged roadster with a 1.8 build that has been apart more times than it has been finished. Somewhere in there I learned to wire a loom properly, hone a cylinder by hand, diagnose almost any issue on a car with no direct diagnostics system, I've managed to map an engine without melting it, and still after all that the best modification you can make to a car is finding a road worth driving on.
Made Manual came out of that. Not a marketing exercise — just the shirts and brand I wanted and couldn't find. Everything on this site is a joke, a reference or a detail that only lands if you've done the work yourself. If you need it explaining, it isn't going on a shirt.
Everything is printed to order in small runs. That means it takes a few days longer than a warehouse would, although it also means nothing ends up in landfill because we guessed the wrong size split.
My brother and I run this from Scotland, and we answer the emails, send the orders run the site, and do everything else ourselves.
Everything starts in the garage
No design goes on a shirt unless it survives the workbench test: would anyone who has actually done the work find it funny? If it needs explaining, it doesn't make the cut.
How it works
-
Small runs
Printed to order. Nothing made that nobody wanted.
-
Insider only
Every design is a reference. If you have to explain it, it isn't going on a shirt.
